The Casio G-Shock GBX100 is the G-LIDE surf watch: a MIP LCD that shows tide graph, moon age, high and low tide times and sunrise and sunset for any of about 3,300 surf spots you send it from the phone app, in a case with a stainless bezel top and a bio-based urethane band with a runoff slit. It is the G-Shock for anyone whose day depends on the water. This review covers the tide functions, the display, and how it compares to other G-Shocks.

The tide display
Pick a surf spot in the Casio app, send it to the watch, and the display shows the tide curve, the next high and low, the moon phase and sunrise and sunset. It is the information a surfer, a fisherman or a beach walker checks on a phone, on the wrist, readable in sun.
The MIP LCD
Memory-in-pixel displays are the high-contrast, low-power screens that make modern G-Shock digitals readable at a glance in daylight. The GBX100's is the sharpest in the G-Shock line at this price.
The case and band
A stainless bezel top over resin, so it takes the G-Shock hits and looks a little dressier. The urethane band is bio-based with a slit so water and sweat drain and the band dries.
Compared
The GBD800 is the fitness G-Shock with a step counter. The Rangeman has altimeter, barometer and compass for land. The GBX100 is the one for the water.
