Time: let it sync
Set the home city and DST once (hold A in timekeeping until the city flashes, pick with D / B, press C to DST, set AUTO, press A). Leave the watch near a window overnight and it receives the signal; in timekeeping, hold D to trigger a manual receive and watch for the RCVD indicator. If it never receives, you are out of range of the transmitters; set the time manually with the same hold-A procedure and the C / D / B fields.
Compass
Press the sensor button (the guarded button at 3 o'clock) once from timekeeping to take a bearing; the display shows the direction and the hands-free digital compass. To correct for magnetic declination, on the compass screen hold A until the declination setting appears, set your local value with D / B (the number is on any topo map or the NOAA calculator), press A. For a bidirectional calibration, hold A on the compass screen, choose the calibration option, and rotate the watch 180 degrees when prompted.
Altimeter
Press the sensor button until ALTI shows. The altimeter reads barometric altitude, so calibrate it at a known elevation: on the altimeter screen hold A, enter the elevation from a trailhead sign or map with D / B, press A. Re-calibrate when the weather changes; pressure drift is altitude drift.
Barometer and thermometer
Press the sensor button to BARO. The graph shows the pressure trend over the last hours; a steady drop means weather is coming. The thermometer reads accurately only off the wrist for about 20 minutes. To set a reference pressure, hold A on the BARO screen.
Sensor button and sunrise/sunset
One press of the sensor button shows the last sensor mode you used. The Rangeman also shows sunrise and sunset for your city, useful when you are timing a descent.
Battery
Tough Solar; the level indicator shows H, M or L. Keep it out of a drawer.
