A Byrna magazine is an open-top tube of five round projectiles, and a spare one in a pocket or bag spills. Rounds roll out, lint gets in, and the pepper rounds you paid for end up under a car seat. A mag cover fixes it, and the PLUS version also carries a spare CO2 cartridge, which is the other thing a Byrna needs to keep running. This guide covers the covers we make, which fits which magazine, and how to carry a spare.
The mag cover
Mag Cover for Byrna Magazines
A precision-fit PETG cover, printed to snap over the top of a Byrna magazine, that holds the projectiles in and keeps dust and debris out. Lightweight, low bulk, made for range bags, pockets, and storage. $14.99. Six versions:
- CL Mag Cover, for the CL's .61 magazine.
- CL Mag Cover PLUS, with a pocket for an 8-gram CO2 cartridge.
- CL-XL Mag Cover PLUS, for the extended CL magazine, with a 12-gram CO2 pocket.
- SD / HD / LE / XL Mag Cover, for the .68 magazines.
- SD / HD Mag Cover PLUS, with an 8-gram CO2 pocket.
- LE / XL Mag Cover PLUS, with a 12-gram CO2 pocket.
Why the CO2 pocket matters
A Byrna's CO2 cartridge is punctured on the first shot and is good for roughly one magazine plus. A spare magazine without a spare cartridge is a reload you may not be able to fire. The PLUS covers put the cartridge on the magazine so the two travel together.
How to carry a spare Byrna magazine
Covered, in a support-side pocket, rounds up. The Pocket Magazine Holder we make for pistol magazines fits a covered Byrna magazine and hides its shape. In a bag, a covered magazine goes in a zip pocket where it cannot be crushed.
