Best Sheath for the Leatherman Bond and Original PST

The Bond is Leatherman's modern take on its first tool, the PST: 14 tools in a slim 4-inch, 5.6-ounce body with no locks and no frills. The original PST, which many people still carry, is the 1983 design with 12 tools. They are different bodies, so each gets its own sheath.

Both tools shipped with a leather or nylon pouch that eventually wears through. A molded kydex sheath is the modern replacement: it holds either tool by its frame, clicks, adjusts for retention, and is guaranteed for life, which for a PST that has already lasted thirty years is the right match.

How to carry it

On a belt

The sheath ships with the standard Clip & Carry belt clip, which is universal across all our multitool sheaths and carries the tool vertically on a normal belt.

On a duty or work belt

Swap the clip for the Tek-Lok belt clip, which fits belts up to 2.25 inches wide and attaches with the sheath's existing holes.

On a pack, vest or bag

The MOLLE clip replaces the belt clip using the same screws and mounts the sheath to MOLLE webbing on a bag or plate carrier.

Why kydex

Kydex is a thermoformed plastic that is molded directly on the tool, so the sheath holds it by shape rather than by squeezing it. It does not absorb water, oil, or sweat, does not stretch, does not fray at the belt loop, and lets the tool draw with one hand. A retention screw sets how firmly it holds. It is why every sheath here is guaranteed for life.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Bond sheath fit the Original PST?

No. Each has its own sheath.

Does the PST sheath fit the PST II?

The sheath is molded to the Original PST. Check the PST II's dimensions before ordering.

Will kydex mark the stainless handles?

No. The sheath holds by shape.

Can I carry it on a pack?

Yes, with the MOLLE clip.

The bottom line

If you carry the tool daily, the Kydex Sheath for the Leatherman Bond is the upgrade that keeps it on your belt, clicks it in, and outlasts the pouch it came with. Add the Tek-Lok for a duty belt or the MOLLE clip for a pack.
