Kydex
Hard thermoplastic molded to your exact tool. It locks in with audible retention, draws fast, and lasts for years. The tradeoffs: it is rigid and a touch louder when you seat the tool.
Nylon
Soft, cheaper, and quieter, but the retention loosens over time and it offers less protection. Fine for occasional carry, less ideal for daily use.
