The Canik Mete MC9 brought Canik's trigger and optics-ready slide down to micro-compact size, and the MC9 Prime refined it further. It is a popular carry gun at its price, and like most newer micro-compacts it has fewer holster options than the Sig and Springfield it competes with. We stock two holsters molded to the MC9 Prime: an IWB for concealment and a paddle for the range. Here is how they compare and how to carry the gun.
Quick compare: Canik Mete MC9 holsters
| Holster | Carry | Claw | Cant | Weight | Price |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Mete MC9 Prime IWB | IWB, appendix to 6 o'clock | Compatible | -5° to +20° | 3 oz | $41.95 |
| Mete MC9 Prime Paddle | OWB, strong side | No | -5° to +20° | 4 oz | $46.95 |
MC9 vs MC9 Prime
The Prime is the updated MC9, and the holsters here are molded to the Prime. If you own the original MC9, check the dimensions against the Prime before ordering, because small changes to a slide or trigger guard are enough to change retention on a molded holster. When in doubt, the click test on delivery tells you: a correctly molded holster seats with an audible snap and holds the gun upside down.
The holsters, reviewed
1. Canik Mete MC9 Prime IWB Holster: best for daily carry
Formed over a CAD-designed, in-house-milled aluminum mold in .08-inch kydex, three ounces. Adjustable Posi-Click retention with an audible click, a 1.5-inch fiber-reinforced stealth clip adjustable from 5 degrees negative to 20 degrees forward, claw-compatible for appendix carry, undercut trigger guard, over-cut open muzzle for threaded barrels, clearance for suppressor-height sights and a slide-mounted optic, and a full-length sweat guard with rear sight shield. Black oxide hardware with threadlock, right or left hand, black or carbon-fiber pattern, made entirely in the U.S.A., unconditional lifetime warranty.
2. Canik Mete MC9 Prime Paddle Holster: best for the range
Same mold and retention on a fiber-reinforced paddle. On and off without unthreading a belt, strong side at 3 or 9 o'clock, four ounces, lifetime warranty. For range days and open carry, not concealment.
How to carry the MC9
Appendix
The MC9's short slide makes appendix comfortable. Set the clip near neutral, and if the grip prints, add a claw to the IWB.
Strong side
Ten to twenty degrees of forward cant behind the hip. Also where the paddle rides.
Optics
The MC9 Prime ships optics-ready, and both holsters clear a slide-mounted red dot.
Frequently asked questions
Will a Sig P365 holster fit the MC9?
No. Micro-compacts differ in slide and trigger guard shape. Use an MC9 mold.
Are the holsters optic-ready?
Yes, both clear a slide-mounted optic and suppressor-height sights.
Can I add a claw?
Yes, the IWB is claw-compatible.
Left-hand versions?
Yes, for both.
Where are they made?
Entirely in the U.S.A., with an unconditional lifetime warranty.
The bottom line
Carry the MC9 Prime in the IWB holster with a claw at appendix, and keep the paddle for the range.
