The Springfield Echelon Compact took the full-size Echelon's chassis, its Variable Interface System optic mount, and its Central Operating Group serialized fire-control unit, and shrank the slide and grip into something that conceals. It is a newer gun, so holster choices are still thinner than for a Glock 19. Here are the two we stock, both molded specifically to the Compact, and how to decide between them.
Both are formed over CAD-designed aluminum molds, optic-ready, made start to finish in the U.S.A., and covered by an unconditional lifetime warranty. The choice is inside the waistband for concealment or a paddle holster for the range and open carry.

What is different about holstering an Echelon
Two things. First, nearly every Echelon leaves the factory with an optic or an optic plate, so a holster with a closed top or a low rear cut will not seat the gun; both holsters here are cut for a slide-mounted red dot and for suppressor-height sights. Second, the Echelon's trigger guard and rail are its own shape, not a Glock pattern, which is why a "fits most compacts" holster is a bad idea for this gun. Molded kydex made from the actual Echelon Compact is the only way to get the audible click and consistent retention that make appendix carry safe.
The holsters, reviewed
1. Springfield Echelon Compact IWB Holster: best for concealed carry
This is the everyday holster. It is .08-inch kydex formed over a precision aluminum mold, so fit is identical from one holster to the next, and it weighs three ounces. Retention is Posi-Click and user adjustable, so you hear the gun seat and can set how hard it holds. The clip is a 1.5-inch fiber-reinforced stealth clip that hides under the belt, with cant adjustable from 5 degrees negative to 20 degrees forward, which covers appendix, strong side, hip, small of back, and cross draw. The trigger guard is undercut for a clean draw, the open face is over-cut for threaded barrels, and there is a full-length sweat guard with a rear sight shield. It is claw-compatible if the grip prints. Black oxide hardware with threadlock, right or left hand, black or carbon-fiber pattern.
2. Springfield Echelon Compact Paddle Holster: best for the range and open carry
Same mold, same optic cut, same adjustable Posi-Click retention, but on a fiber-reinforced paddle instead of a belt clip. A paddle holster goes on and comes off without unthreading your belt, which is why it is the better choice for range days, training classes, and anywhere you open carry legally. It rides strong side at 3 or 9 o'clock, weighs four ounces, and has the same lifetime warranty. It is not a concealment holster; for that, use the IWB.
How to carry the Echelon Compact
Appendix
The Compact's grip is short enough for appendix carry on most builds. Set the IWB clip near neutral cant, and if the grip pushes out under a shirt, add a claw; the holster is set up for one.
Strong side
Ten to fifteen degrees of forward cant on the IWB tucks the grip under a shirt hem. For open carry, this is where the paddle holster rides.
With a light
Neither holster here is cut for a weapon-mounted light. If you run one on the Echelon's rail you need a light-specific mold.
Frequently asked questions
Will these fit the full-size Echelon?
No. The full-size Echelon has a longer slide and will not seat in the Compact mold. Order the holster for the exact model you carry.
Do they work with a red dot?
Yes. Both are cut for slide-mounted optics and suppressor-height sights.
Can I adjust the retention?
Yes. Both use adjustable Posi-Click retention, tightened or loosened with a screw.
Is the IWB comfortable at appendix?
Yes, and it is claw-compatible, which is what makes appendix carry comfortable and print-free on a compact this size.
Where are they made?
Both are made entirely in the U.S.A. on American-made machinery, with an unconditional lifetime warranty.
The bottom line
If you carry the Echelon Compact concealed, buy the IWB holster. If you want something for the range that goes on in two seconds, or you open carry, buy the paddle. Plenty of owners end up with both.
