Trayvax Contour Review: A Leather-Wrapped Metal Wallet Made for 65 Years

The Trayvax Contour is the company's most refined wallet: two CNC-machined plates, a bottom in stainless, brass or titanium and a PVD-coated top, each wrapped in top-grain oil-tanned leather, held together as a slim front-pocket wallet. It is made in the USA and backed by Trayvax's 65-year heirloom warranty. The Contour Lite adds a sliding clasp, RFID and an optional bottle opener. This review covers the build, the patina, and the two versions.

The build

Metal for structure, leather for feel. Each plate is wrapped so the leather is what touches your hand and pocket, and the metal is what keeps the wallet flat and the cards protected. Titanium is the lightest and most expensive; stainless the standard; brass the one that ages.

The patina

Oil-tanned leather darkens and marks with use, and the Contour is designed to show it. A year in, no two look alike.

Contour vs Contour Lite

The Lite is the newer construction with an adjustable sliding clasp that tensions the stack, RFID protection, and an optional integrated bottle opener. It is the one to buy now; the original Contour is the one to buy if you want brass.

Compared

The Element is the paracord-wrapped version at $85; the Ascent is the single-plate minimalist. The Contour is the finished piece.
