Rifle-format launchers
The Byrna TCR and Mission-4 are shoulder-fired launchers with larger magazines, priced above the handhelds, for home defense where concealment does not matter.
What comes in a kit
The launcher, one or two magazines, CO2 cartridges, kinetic and practice rounds, and a case. Kits ship without chemical rounds so they are legal in all 50 states.
What you will add
- Chemical rounds, where legal: the projectiles that make a Byrna effective. Budget for a tube.
- Practice rounds and CO2. The recurring cost. A few hundred rounds and a box of cartridges over the first year.
- A holster. $44.99 for the molded kydex SD/EP, LE or CL holster. A launcher you cannot carry is a launcher in a drawer.
- A spare magazine and a mag cover, $14.99, so the spare travels with its CO2 and does not spill.
Where the money goes
The Pull-Pierce valve, the magazine system, and the fact that Byrna is a small company making a niche product in modest volume. It costs more than a paintball marker because it is built to sit loaded in a holster for a year and fire on the first pull.
