The Ruger LCP II and LCP Max are pocket .380s, which means most owners carry them in a pocket or at appendix under the lightest clothing they own. That is exactly where a soft holster fails: it collapses, it shifts, and it does not cover the trigger the way a molded shell does. We make a kydex IWB holster molded to the LCP II and LCP Max, and this guide covers how it fits both, how to carry a gun this small, and what to check before you order.

LCP II vs LCP Max: why one holster fits both
Ruger built the LCP Max on the LCP II's slide and barrel length and widened the grip to take a double-stack magazine, going from 6 rounds to 10, with a 12-round extended magazine available. Because the slide dimensions are shared, a holster molded to that slide holds both guns with the same click and retention; the wider Max grip sits above the holster and does not affect fit. The original LCP, which predates the LCP II, is a different slide and is not covered.

Clip & Carry IWB Holster for the Ruger LCP II / LCP Max
Molded in .08-inch kydex to the LCP II slide, with no excess material, so the gun clicks in and stays put. The edges are folded rather than left square, which on a gun this close to the skin is the difference between a holster you forget and one you take off by noon. The sweat shield runs the full length of the slide. The belt clip cants 20 degrees either direction, and retention is set with screws you can loosen or tighten. The screw spacing also accepts a claw, which is the trick that keeps a pocket pistol's grip from printing at appendix. Handmade in the U.S.A. by a military veteran, right or left hand, black or carbon-fiber-pattern kydex, lifetime guarantee.
How to carry an LCP
Appendix
The natural home for a pocket .380. Set the clip to neutral, sit down, and you will not notice it. If the Max's wider grip prints under a t-shirt, add a claw.
Strong side
Forward cant of 15 to 20 degrees behind the hip disappears under any shirt. Good for driving.
Why not a pocket holster?
Pocket carry works with a dedicated pocket holster, but a kydex IWB is faster to draw, keeps the trigger covered no matter what else is in your pocket, and does not collapse when the gun comes out. If you carry daily, IWB is the safer default.
Frequently asked questions
Does this fit the original Ruger LCP?
No. The original LCP has a different slide. This holster fits the LCP II and LCP Max only.
Does the LCP Max's wider grip change the fit?
No. The holster grips the slide, which the LCP II and LCP Max share. The grip sits above the holster.
Does it fit with the 12-round extended magazine?
Yes. The magazine sits above the holster body and does not affect retention.
Can I add a claw?
Yes. The retention screw spacing accepts one without drilling.
Is there a left-hand version?
Yes.
The bottom line
A pocket .380 deserves a real holster. The LCP II / LCP Max IWB covers the trigger, clicks in, adjusts for cant and retention, and is guaranteed for life. Carry it at appendix with a claw and you will forget the gun is there.
