The belt is the part of a concealed-carry setup nobody thinks about until the holster sags. A regular leather or casual belt was never built to hold a gun, a magazine, a flashlight and a multitool in place all day: it folds, it rolls, it shifts when you sit, and it prints. An EDC belt is stiffened to carry weight vertically without giving up the ability to bend when you do. We stock three, from a purpose-built ratchet belt to a simple nylon web belt, and this guide covers what each does and who it suits.

What makes a belt an EDC belt
Vertical stiffness. A carry belt has to resist folding over under the weight of a holster while still bending around your waist. Leather does that by being thick, which is why gun belts are heavy. Modern EDC belts do it with a stiffened nylon core inside a ballistic nylon shell, which is lighter, does not stretch, and does not roll. The second thing is adjustment: a ratchet buckle lets you tighten in small steps instead of one-inch holes, so the belt is snug against the holster clip rather than one notch too loose or too tight.
The belts, reviewed
1. OPS 1.0 EDC Belt: best for daily carry
The OPS is designed from the start as a carry belt rather than a dress belt with a stiffener. It gives true vertical support so the holster stays where you put it, keeps that support while you bend and sit, and is cut to disappear under normal clothing. Ratchet buckle, 1.5-inch width that fits every standard holster clip, two size ranges that cover up to a 61-inch waist, and four colors including a black camo. If you carry every day, this is the one.
2. Hero 1.0 EDC Belt: best looking
The Hero pairs a traditional look with heat-treated ballistic nylon and a heat-cured stiffened core for rigid support under weight. The micro-adjustable ratchet buckle means no holes and no sag, a protective coating resists sweat, oil and dirt, and it is licensed by the NRA. Five colors including brown and army green make it the easier belt to wear with anything. Same 1.5-inch width and same two size ranges as the OPS.
3. Clip & Carry EDC Belt: best budget web belt
A military-style tactical belt in industrial-grade nylon webbing that does not stretch or fray, in black or tan. It does not have the ratchet or the stiffened core of the other two, so it is the belt for a multitool sheath and a flashlight rather than a full-size pistol. Pair it with a kydex sheath and it is the simplest EDC belt we make.
How to choose
What are you carrying?
A pistol in an IWB holster needs a stiffened belt: the OPS or the Hero. A multitool, knife and light are fine on the web belt.
Ratchet or holes
Ratchet buckles win for carry because you can tighten by a quarter inch after you holster. Both the OPS and Hero use one.
Width
All three are 1.5 inches, which is the width every holster clip and sheath clip we make is sized for.
Size
Order by the waist measurement over your pants at the belt line, not your jeans size, and remember a holster and gun add about two inches.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a special belt for concealed carry?
Yes. A regular belt sags and shifts under a holster. A stiffened EDC belt keeps the gun where you placed it.
What width should an EDC belt be?
1.5 inches. It fits standard holster and sheath clips and standard belt loops.
Are ratchet belts good for concealed carry?
They are the best option, because you can tighten in small steps to match the holster.
Will an EDC belt work with a kydex holster?
Yes. All three belts here are 1.5 inches, which matches the clips on our IWB holsters and sheaths.
How do I size an EDC belt?
Measure over your pants at the belt line and add two inches for a holster and gun. The OPS and Hero come in standard to 46 inches and large to 61 inches.
The bottom line
For daily pistol carry, the OPS 1.0. For a belt that passes as a dress belt, the Hero 1.0. For tools and lights on a budget, the Clip & Carry EDC Belt.
