Byrna CL Compact vs. Byrna HD: What's the Difference?
Size & Concealability
Byrna CL: Designed for discreet carry, the CL measures approximately 6.81 inches in length, 5.1 inches in height, and 1.18 inches in width, making it about 38% smaller than the Byrna SD model. It weighs around 0.76 lbs, making it suitable for concealed carry in various situations.
Byrna HD: The HD is larger and resembles the size of a compact 9mm handgun. While still portable, its size may be less ideal for concealed carry compared to the CL
Caliber & Ammunition
Byrna CL: Fires proprietary .61 caliber projectiles, engineered to deliver the same energy density as the .68 caliber rounds used in other Byrna models. This design maintains stopping power while allowing for a more compact launcher.
Byrna HD: Utilizes .68 caliber projectiles, including kinetic and chemical irritant options. These rounds are designed to incapacitate threats effectively
CO₂ System & Firing Mechanism
Byrna CL: Employs an 8-gram CO₂ cartridge with Pull-Pierce Technology, which punctures the CO₂ cartridge upon the first trigger pull, ensuring readiness without gas leakage during storage.
Byrna HD: Also uses an 8-gram CO₂ cartridge. The cartridge remains unpunctured until the first trigger pull, similar to the CL's system.
