WESN Microblade Review: The Keychain Knife That Replaced My Folder

The WESN Microblade is a titanium-framed folding knife the size of a house key, made to live on a keychain and do the cutting most people actually do: tape, boxes, string, an apple. It has been WESN's flagship since 2017, and the 3.0 version adds a redesigned pocket clip, a removable thumb stud, a blade choil for easier sharpening and smoother action. This review covers what a knife this small can and cannot do, the 3.0 changes, and the finishes.

What it does

Ninety percent of what you use a knife for is under two inches of cutting. The Microblade does all of it and rides on your keys, which means it is with you when the full-size folder is at home because you wore different pants. That is the whole argument, and after a few months it is convincing.

What it does not

Food prep beyond an apple, anything that needs a handle to grip, batoning, or looking like a serious knife. It is a small blade with a titanium frame and it stays in its lane.

The 3.0 update

The old clip was the common complaint and the new one is deeper and holds better. The thumb stud comes off if you want a cleaner keychain profile. The choil means you can sharpen to the heel. The action is smoother; a tiny knife lives or dies on that.

Finishes

Plain titanium ages into a gray you either love or do not. Blacked Out hides wear. The G10 inlays add grip and color; mustard and OD green are the popular ones. Pair it with the MT keychain multitool and CB carabiner for the full WESN keychain.
